For Centennial and Denver, Colorado — Introducing IntraLase® Laser Blade-free LASIK Eye Surgery!

The refractive surgeons at Spivack Vision Center in Centennial near Denver, Colorado are proud to feature laser eye surgery using IntraLase® laser technology for a 100 percent Blade-free experience. Blade-free LASIK not only gives our surgeons superb control over the procedure for unmatched accuracy, but it also provides the assurance to patients that they are undergoing a state-of-the-art vision correction treatment that will result in the safest and most successful outcome possible.

What Is Blade-free LASIK?

Blade-free LASIK is the 100 percent bladeless approach to traditional LASIK surgery. Instead of using a microkeratome blade during the first part of laser eye surgery at our Denver and Centennial area centers, the IntraLase® laser uses rapid, predictable pulses of infrared energy at extremely high speeds to create a flap on the cornea. During this "inside-out" process, the laser beam is focused on the inside of the eye where it creates thousands of tiny bubbles that link together to create a beveled-edge corneal flap, which is then pulled back for the second part of the LASIK process. The laser beam never touches the cornea's exterior, resulting in fewer complications. The entire IntraLase® process takes approximately 45 seconds, and when it is complete, the second part of the LASIK procedure can continue. Contact our vision center in Centennial, near Denver, to learn more about Blade-free laser eye surgery and IntraLase® technology.

Introducing New IntraLase® Laser Technology for LASIK Eye Surgery

Intralase LaserFirst approved for vision correction by the FDA in 2001, the IntraLase® laser has been successfully used in more than one million laser eye surgery procedures. Whereas use of a handheld microkeratome blade may result in uneven flaps and abnormal corneal surfaces, the computer-guided IntraLase® laser creates a flap at a diameter, depth, and position that is 100 times more precise. This not only allows the surgery to be more customized to the patient, but it also gives the surgeons at our Centennial center near Denver unprecedented control during laser eye surgery.

Advantages of Blade-free Laser Eye Surgery

Many patients opt for Blade-free LASIK because of the added benefits the procedure offers over traditional laser eye surgery. In fact, many LASIK patients choose the Blade-free method when given the option. Blade-free LASIK carries many advantages over traditional LASIK surgery:

  • The computer-controlled IntraLase® laser gives our surgeons a higher level of accuracy and control during the critical first step of LASIK surgery.
  • The accuracy of the IntraLase Method™ also allows patients to achieve better vision. Fewer LASIK enhancements and additional post-operative surgeries are needed because of the high level of accuracy of the IntraLase® procedure.
  • Blade-free LASIK delivers a greater degree of safety and fewer post-surgical complications than traditional LASIK. The beveled edge the IntraLase® laser creates on the corneal flap allows for more precise alignment when it is repositioned after the LASIK process.
  • The use of the IntraLase® laser is also more comfortable for patients than the use of a microkeratome because there is significantly less pressure placed on the cornea. This in turn gives patients a higher sense of safety and peace of mind.
  • Laser eye surgery using the IntraLase Method™ also allows patients who are not considered good candidates for traditional LASIK another refractive surgery alternative for achieving clearer vision. Individuals with a high degree of myopia or hyperopia, as well as individuals with thin or thick corneas and those who have previously undergone corneal surgery, may be able to undergo vision correction surgery with the IntraLase Method™.
