Dr. Spencer served his country for six years in the United States Navy. He was a Reactor operator on the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier during the Persian Gulf War

Dr. Spencer has performed research on new intraocular lens technologies in laboratory and clinical scenarios
Dr. Spencer excelled in his residency at the University of Utah’s prestigious Moran Eye Center, which is known for the best ophthalmic surgical training in the country. There, he performed over 700 surgical procedures as the primary surgeon, and assisted in over 800 additional procedures. He performs the modern technique of clear corneal, no-stitch cataract surgery under topical anesthesia.
Dr. Spencer published multiple articles in scientific journals on a variety of topics in ophthalmology. His area of expertise is cataract surgery and related procedures.
Dr. Spencer was invited by Alcon to become the first and only ophthalmology resident certified to implant the ReSTOR multifocal intraocular lens.
