If you have been considering LASIK, completing your free consultation at Spivack Vision Center is your first step towards having the procedure. This essential exam will determine if LASIK is the best possible choice to achieve your goal of better vision. Through your experience you will find that we are dedicated to 100% patient satisfaction every step of the way. We pride ourselves not only on the results we achieve, but also on unsurpassed patient care.
1: Prior to Your Arrival
Please plan to be with us for about 1 to 2 hours during your initial consultation. We also ask that you remove your contact lenses as instructed to you by our call center. Contact lenses can change the shape of your eye, affecting the accuracy of the measurements we take during your exam.
Soft contacts should be removed for a minimum of 5-7 days prior, toric or overnight lenses a minimum of 10 days and gas permeable a minimum of 2 weeks.
2: Welcome to Spivack Vision Center
As you enter our practice, a smiling face is waiting to greet you at our front desk. Next, you will take a seat in our relaxing reception area, while you complete some paper work and learn what to expect during your time with us.
3: Vision Testing & Assessment
Next, your personal Technician will greet you and take you back to begin our extensive testing:
- Visual field test
- Medical and eye health history review
- Schirmer's test
4: Meet a Spivack Vision Center LASIK Doctor
One of Spivack Vision Center's expertly trained and experienced LASIK doctors will then complete your testing. After reviewing your measurements and tests, your doctor will discuss your candidacy and recommend the best treatment option for you. We will also discuss the risks and potential side effects and will take the time to answer all of your questions about the results of your tests and your recommendation.
5: Vision Testing & Assessment
We will then take you on a tour of our state-of-the-art center. You will become familiar with our pre and post-operative areas, climate-controlled laser suite, and surgery viewing area. We'll make every effort to ensure that you are comfortable and know what to expect on the day of your procedure.
6: Discuss Your Options
Your personal Spivack Vision Center counselor will review your LASIK or PRK treatment plan, as well as our financing and payment options. Then, we'll help you choose your procedure day!
7: On Your Way to Better Vision
Congratulations! You now have the date that can change your life! You will receive a written list of instructions for your procedure day and any drops you may need prior to the procedure. You'll need to arrange a ride home on the day of your LASIK procedure, and also schedule your appointment for the day after your treatment.
Your LASIK Day
One of Colorado's most Advanced Blade-Free LASIK Technologies
Because we're always at the forefront of technology and surgical techniques, every patient at Spivack Vision Center receives an all-laser, blade-free treatment. Replacing the traditional bladed approach, we have invested in the fastest, most advanced iFS™ IntraLase® System for the ultimate in safety, precision and comfort.
You should plan to arrive at our Centennial vision center at least one hour before your scheduled procedure. It is important that you show up with a designated driver because you will not be able to drive after the procedure.
- After checking in, you will be given a sedative to help you relax.
- A technician will administer anesthetic eye drops to prepare your eyes for surgery.
The LASIK Procedure
Our staff will offer you a warm blanket and friendly toy to ensure you are relaxed and comfortable. Your surgeon will explain every step so that you feel confident and reassured throughout the entire process.
An eyelid holder will be placed on your eye, which prevents you from blinking during the LASIK procedure. You will be very comfortable and your surgeon will continue to use numbing drops during your procedure
During the LASIK treatment, our LASIK surgeon makes a protective flap on the cornea using the iFS™ IntraLase® laser. The surgeon gently folds the flap back, and you are asked to look directly into a target light while a laser reshapes the cornea. For absolute accuracy, the excimer laser is programmed with your individual eye information and tracks your eye movements at amazing speed.
The actual laser treatment only takes seconds. Then the corneal flap is repositioned and begins to heal immediately.
- After your treatment is finished, you will receive additional eye drops and will be examined once more by your surgeon. You should expect blurry vision at first, but will notice that your vision will improve quickly after surgery.
- You should plan to relax the rest of the day. In fact, a nice nap is recommended to help your eyes heal and for your comfort.
- You may experience some mild discomfort, sensitivity to light, or swelling for up to 24 hours after LASIK. Over-the-counter pain medication can be taken for pain relief. You will return the next day for a follow-up examination, and can usually resume normal activities at this time (with minor restrictions).
Your New Vision
Congratulations! Many patients experience a dramatic improvement in their vision, likely seeing 20/20 within a day or two after their procedure.* You will have a postoperative exam to ensure everything is healing correctly. Most patients are able to drive and return to work and their everyday activities (with minor restrictions), and will continue to notice improvements in their vision.
The Days and Weeks After LASIK
In the days and weeks after your procedure you'll be feeling great and seeing better than ever. Your eyes may get a little tired in the afternoon, and you may use drops if your eyes become dry.
You will have additional post-operative appointments over the next 12 months, which are all incorporated in the price at Spivack Vision Center. Plus, with our Lifetime Commitment you can be confident we will be here to ensure you enjoy your best possible results today, tomorrow and in the years to come.
*Everyone heals differently and depending on your prescription it may take several weeks to a few months to realize your full visual results.
